I'm Back

Having spent a week at Disney I'm home again and plunging into the Christmas atmosphere.  I came home rather rested and ready to continue on.  Mickey and all his gang are still thriving in the magic kingdom and I have to admit, I wouldn't mind going back.  It truly was magic and even though I've been a couple of times before it has been many, many years and so many things have been added. It was like going for the first time.

One thing has changed since being there last. The princesses have gotten a lot prettier.  At least these two have. I am grateful to have gotten to experience Disney through the eyes of my granddaughters.

And... although this pic is a bit blurry, you can still get the idea. The castle changed colors and the fireworks and parades were amazing. I couldn't help but liken the whole kingdom thing to the kingdom of the Lord. When one day we will step through the pearly gates of heaven and see and feel and smell the kingdom for ourselves with the Lord Himself giving us the guided tour !  I can't wait !

Decorating awaits me and I must go... have a blessed day  :)

Everyday I learn something new about Him. If He gives me the grace to live until I'm 90, maybe then I can say I am truly wise. ~~~S.Kelly

Taking A Break

Thanksgiving has past and now we are on our way to the biggie of the year, Christmas. I just love Christmas and always have. I think I do because my moma and daddy always made it special. As children we always looked forward to it and I hope that I always will. Now that I am older and know more about Christ and the meaning of the celebration it has so much more meaning to me than ever. I really look forward to all that the season holds.

I will be taking a break from blogging for a few days.  Tomorrow I leave for Disney World along with my son and his family. I'll be spending time touring the park with my granddaughters and the family. I know we'll have a good time and will come back ready to get my shopping done. I don't have a clue as to what I'll shop for at this point.  I don't worry though. That will take care of itself.

We are just savoring these last days of Thanksgiving vacation. Of course, I don't have any children still at home to hear the dreaded stories from of having to go back to school but I'm sure those stories are told in every house around us that have children. And, I can't say as I can blame them. I never wanted to go back either.

So here I am hoping that your holidays have been good so far and that you have filled it with good food, much thanks, and lots of naps on the sofa.  I am sleepy even as I type.  I'll continue with my life blogstyle when I return.

Thanks for the visit once again :)

Even when things go really bad I've learned that the Lord never leaves the scene, He is walking the dark hills right along with us. That brings me comfort.~~~~S.Kelly

Thanksgiving

Today has been really beautiful and full of family and the way I would choose it to be.  If I were away somewhere celebrating Thanksgiving without family I would still be thankful for what the Lord has done in my life and for all the wonderful benefits He has given me, but I would be homesick and longing for my family. I am so family oriented that it isn't even funny.  I love my family, each one and they all have a special place in my heart no matter what they do or what they may do.  Each one is in my prayers and I have hopes for all of them.  My greatest desire for each of them is that we will all meet in  heaven one day to live forever with Jesus. I am thankful for family.

The little feet in the picture are of our little SC. Taken at Moma's house today.

My mother is in her seventies and seems to never really get old. She is young in her ways and is so good to everyone she knows.  She is a true servant to her family and others.

Moma always fixes her home up so pretty for the holidays.  I always feel so loved there. There is no place like home for me and I cherish all the memories I have of home.

Gathering at Moma's and enjoying the company of children. My son and granddaughter and niece in the kitchen.

After having lunch, a few of us headed to the yard for play. That's my daughter-in-love and the children (granddaughters and nieces and nephews. Oh what fun !!

Beautiful sunny weather. Beautiful family!

Heading back in to prepare for leaving after the end of a good day.  Alas, we have just made some wonderful memories!

Hope you have too !
thanks for your sweet visit :)  Happy Thanksgiving !!

I do believe the Lord  has smiled on us today !

Home Sweet Home

Today has been a wonderful day so far. The sun is out bright and the day couldn't be any better. Now as you look at the picture of the leaf, this one didn't come from my yard. All the leaves in my yard are brown.  But, the beauty is still there and the really nice thing about it all is that it is "home sweet home".

The wee ones are napping and I've gotten a lot done today plus a little puttering around the yard on the four wheeler with the wee ones. We are satisfied.

I love the pic of one of the grandbaby girls, SC. She and her boots. I think she must have a little of me in there somewhere.  It doesn't matter if she loves boots or high heels, her grammy thinks she is special as well as her big sister.

The two of them brighten the day when they are about.  As you can see in the pic, they have been digging in the dirt a bit. Not today, but on another fine day when they came for a visit.  I'm losing battery power on my laptop so I must run. Hoping your day will be great and your evening even better.

Thanks for your stopping by :)

Trust in the Lord, He will meet every need you have no matter what.  s.kelly

Sunday

As I type this post I am sitting on the floor at the coffee table and just finishing up a light supper of grits and toast and oh yes, iced tea. That has always been my comfort food. Very southern I know, but then again I am very southern and very, very proud of it. Now I know if you are from the north you too are proud of where you came from and should be. For it is part of who we have become today. When I think of all the people and places I have been to, which aren't that many compared to some, I realize that I am a product of those who have influenced my life, mainly family.  Another extension of my family is my church family.  I have come to love them although as my pastor reminded me tonight, "we are not always comfortable with one another. We may not always agree with one another, but we are family". Words of wisdom.  I realize if I should, God forbid, lose my family, then I would have my church family to uphold me as I go on this journey.

As I look ahead to the future, I can't help but also look back to the past and see how much the Lord has blessed me and how He has taught me many things.  Oh, how good He has been to me, to walk with me through the hard times and yes, walk with me through the really good times. The times that I'm not even mindful that He is there. Now that's a thought. Even when I'm not mindful of Him. That's how faithful He is to me.

In closing tonight, I will rest knowing that He watches over us even while we sleep and that He has already planned our day and knows the path we will take tomorrow. The choice is ours. Do we choose to live it our way, or step aside from our own desires and allow Him to lead.

wishing you a peaceful evening and good sleep   :)

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lovin the Library

The other day I headed out to the local library to return a stack of books the girls and I got. We read them and then I reread them again to the wee ones here at home. I love it when I get to go to the library for more.  I really don't have a whole lot of time to spend just browzing because my cell phone is so apt to go off in there and because I transfer our business to it I can't tarry in there too long.  Otherwise, I would probably spend a great deal of time just looking at books and just plain ole lovin being in there. Such a tranquil place. Since we got our new building it is especially nice.  The old one was so small and yet quaint. I think the work quaint is such a neat word. When I think of quaint I can't help but think of cozy and comfortable.  Homey so to speak. I'd far rather spend my time in a quaint place than a stuffy ole cold place any day.  I just love, love the library.

I also got a new book for myself. You notice I said "a" new book.  Only one book mind you. I stay so busy these days that I rarely get to finish a book before I have to renew it about three times. Still I like to keep something to read going and I also have found that it is good to also have something to sew going.

I'm seriously thinking about creating another blog about my sewing hobby.  I thought it might be good because it will constantly push me to have a project going all the time.  Presently I'm working on another costume for my daughter. A colonial dress. Perhaps I'll let you in on the mistake I made from the beginning of this little project.  But, that is for another post.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we haven't really made any solid plans as yet. Hopefully by tomorrow we will know exactly what we will do.  Nonetheless, I will still celebrate the many things I have to be thankful for. God has been so good.

Thanks for the warm visit :)

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.

My Traveling Shoes Are Off

Today has been relaxing for me.  I'm grateful to be home from a much needed vacation and slowly getting back into my routine.  Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were wonderful and time spent with other Christian friends was so rewarding.

I have a whole bunch of great pictures on my computer and will probably never get all of them printed out, but does it really matter ?  I just love sitting at the computer in spare time and looking at them.  It is so different from when we were limited to just a few exposures and then you couldn't even tell if you chopped off someones head or not until you picked them up and opened the package. Boy, what surprises.  Now you can take loads of pictures and just delete the ones you don't like instantly.

The little brown shoes you see in the picture stayed on my feet most of the time while away. I did bring a couple more pair, but these just seemed to fit the bill. Comfortable and cozy to my feet.  And yes, that little backpack there next to my shoes. Well, it took the  place of my purse for a couple of weeks.  I really like all the different compartments in it.  As for now, my little brown shoes are getting a well deserved break and so is my backpack.  The laundry is caught up and the housework.

Tomorrow the grandchildren will come to stay with me and husband will be on retreat with some of the men at the church. I'm looking forward to the weekend and the beautiful weather outside. God is so good.

Husband and I just returned from having supper with a couple of our dear friends and what an even more special treat to realize their daughter and granddaughters treated all of us.  Did I say that God is good?

Watching the minutes ticking off the clock and realizing I still need to wash my face and brush teeth, plus have a little wind down time.  I'll write another day.  As for now I hope you will sleep well and rise to celebrate another day!

Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever !    Deuteronomy 5:29

Come again :)
